MINUTES

15 February 1996

A scheduled meeting of the Electronic Village of Abingdon Committee was held in the main meeting room of the Municipal Building at 7:30 P. M. Dr. F. H. Moore, Jr. called the meeting together and presided. There were forty-two participants present at this meeting.

Dr. Moore explained that this meeting was actually a carry-over from the last meeting held on 9 February 1996. Dr. Moore then went into some explanation of our purpose for those in attendance for the first time.

Nominations were accepted for the office of Chairman of this group. Becky Coleman then presided over the group during the election process. Dr. F. H. Moore, Jr. was nominated as the Chairman by Rachel Fowlkes. The nomination was seconded by Bill Chaffin. Motion was made by Jack White that nominations cease and that Dr. Moore be elected by acclamation. The second question was called and the measure was adopted.

With the new Chairman presiding, nominations were opened for the office of Vice-Chairman. Jay Cox was nominated by Bill Chaffin, seconded by Ray Millsap. Motion was made that further nominations cease and that Jay Cox be elected by acclamation. The second question was called and the measure adopted.

Nominations were opened for the office of Secretary. There were no volunteers. Motion was made by Bill Chaffin seconded by Randy Robertson to nominate and elect Al Bradley the secretary by acclamation. This was unanimously approved.

Nominations were then taken for the provisional office of Treasurer in the event that one is ever needed. Bill Chaffin was nominated by Jack White, seconded by Ray Millsap to be made the Treasurer by acclamation. This was unanimously approved.

Picking up from where the agenda was stopped at the 9 February meeting, Dr. Moore advised that the first real order of business at this meeting was the formulation of the "91st Day Committee," which according to the agenda would

". . . track the progress of the demonstration, report on participation, record and evaluate the demand for service beyond the demo and begin planning for the fiber network."

There followed a lengthy discussion of the proposed "91st Day Committee".

Following the discussion, a motion was made by Ray Millsap, duly seconded by Jean Luker to the effect that the "91st Day Committee" would be composed of the following:

A member of each of the various subcommittees formed previously.

A representative of each of the demonstration sites.

Representatives of Sprint.

Representatives of NetAccess.

The Committee as above composed is to be guided by the adopted Mission Statement in its deliberations.

The motion duly made and seconded above was adopted.

Rob Conrad then moved that the "team captains" of the various sectors established under the Contents Subcommittee should be included as members of the "91st Day Committee". This motion was seconded and duly adopted.

The next meeting of the full Electronic Village of Abingdon Committee was set for 7:30 P. M. on 7 March, 1996 in the Municipal Building.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

Albert C. Bradley,

Secretary
