Mathew Matt reported that the above listed two applications were for extensions from the new Trooper’s Alley line ending at the Abingdon Fire Department and that the connections would be difficult because of pole routes and the existence of trees in that area.

The Trooper’s Alley extension to the Abingdon Fire Department at 316 Park Street is complete

The extension to the proposed new Police Department and recreation complex is underway, but no further reportable progress has been made.

Al Bradley reported attending a grants conference with Dr. Moore on 17 October at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center sponsored by Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology.  Grants of up to $50,000 are being offered on a one to one matching basis.  The deadline for preapplications is 15 December 2000 and the deadline for completed applications is 5 February 2001.  The 91st Day Subcommittee considered several alternatives for the application and preferred the two previously identified projects known as the Washington County Administrative Offices and William King Regional Arts Center extension along Russell  Road and the East Main Street extension and Washington County Schools interlink.

The group also briefly discussed the fiber optic installation recently accomplished by the Bristol Virginia Utilities Board.  Eric Schuler reported having recently visited and viewed the installation.  The potential for another interconnection exists here.

The next EVA meeting will be held on the normal last Wednesday meeting date which falls on 25 October, 2000.There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:55 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Albert C. Bradley,

Secretary
