Electronic village of Abingdon "91st Day" Subcommittee MINUTFS 26 July, 2000 12:30 PM The
scheduled meeting of the Electronic Village of Abingdon "91st Day"
Subcommittee held in the Johnston Memorial Hospital Cafeteria was opened by Dr.
F. H. Moore, Jr., Chairman. There were five participants present. These
included:
From
a motion by Bill Chaffin, seconded by Jay Cox, the minutes of the 28 June 2000
meeting were approved as presented. The
next item for review was the status of new connections, including:
Mr.
Bradley reported that the proposed Trooper’s Alley extension to the Abingdon
Fire Department at 316 Park Street was already underway and may be completed by
now although Sprint has not notified us of such completion. We have already received calls for
connections to this extension. A
proposed new cell of connectivity was discussed at the intersection of Oak Hill
Street and Valley Street. The new
law offices of Boucher Hutton, Kelly and Graham as well as those of Browning and
Lamie and the Victoria and Albert Inn behind these others made this feasible. Mr. Bradley and Mr. Matt will work on
this and involve Sprint in the design if necessary. Congressman
Boucher’s Internet Conference, “The Internet as a Business Medium for
Southwest Virginians” was noted. This
conference takes place on 18 September 2000 at the Southwest Virginia Higher
Education facility. Also
discussed, but in no detail, were a proposed Use Policy limiting heavy users of
bandwidth, the development of fiber connections to the Town’s proposed
Technology Industrial Park and several other items. The
date of the next meeting will be held on the normal last Wednesday meeting date
which falls on 30 August, 2000.There
being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:58 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Albert C. Bradley, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
