Development Stages

Phase I
During Phase I, EVA's fiber optic service was extended in the downtown area. This phase encompassed approximately ten blocks around the Courthouse Hill and toward the Town Hall area of Abingdon. This fiber optic network made high-speed connections available to every building within 150 feet of this fiber backbone.

Our community can now access data and information and interface with other businesses around the globe as though they were our next door neighbors.

Businesses in Abingdon, Virginia can compete at the global level. In fact, decisions to locate in our area have been made based on the availability of high-speed computer communication.

Progress in the expansion of connectivity is important for our community's economic growth, educational opportunities and quality of life.

Phase II
Phase II is a collaborative effort with Highlands Union Bank to extend the fiber optic cable toward the West between the bank and the Town Manager's office, via Plum Alley.
